LYR Stock

Post  ShortNorth on Wed 30 Aug 2017, 4:25 am

Over the last year or so, we have built up a good range of LNWR stock.

Alec, of course, built an extensive range of LYR wagons. There are several nice LYR goods locos available to go with them, but the passenger side is very sparse.

So far, the only LYR passenger stock is 2 x 2-4-2T's and 2 x repainted 'generic' non-corridor coaches (all on the Skipton CD, or UKTS equivalent downloads) - so it is time to start increasing the range of LYR stock.

I've made a start by getting a LYR Aspinall Class J4 4-4-0 underway - the tender is from one of the existing Aspinall goods locos. I specifically chose the J4 as the driver size/splasher size is the same as the L1 Atlantics - this way I can re-use a number of common parts.

Also, just out of interest, I am not using the 'normally used' LYR class designations that Hughes setup in 1920, but the former class designations as detailed in Casserley and Johnston's 'Locomotives at the Grouping'.

Once I've got this one done, I'll start an Aspinall Class L1 4-4-2.

As Alec is quite busy with his wife's care, I'll also make up a couple of 'basic' LYR non-corridor and corridor coaches as a 'stop-gap', until such time Alec can build  some new LYR coaches to his excellent standards.

Regards, Brian

Looking good Brian. I may see whether I can complete the one LYR coach I had on the stocks, and then try a second?

I have now finished the LYR J4 4-4-0, and also a 3-car LBL (Leeds/Bradford - Liverpool) set.

These should be released around the time that the Huddersfield route is released.

The LYR Engines Pack and the LYR Coach Pack have now both been uploaded to UKTS.

Just to add to the small selection of LYR passenger stock, I now have built a rake of 6-wheel carriages - a pair of D10 Brake Thirds (left and right handed), a D8 Full Third and a D5 Composite Lavatory + Luggage compartment.

Will be released around the time Huddersfield and Environs 1920 Version 2.0 is released.
