Viewing Distances Question

Post  NiallGray on Tue 21 May 2013, 10:49 am

This is something I'm working on for my route, it's a condemned building that you can see has been sealed and awaiting demolition. I'm having a nightmare doing some snow textures but that's not the reason for posting.

This is an original default MSTS building that was re-sized and re-textured. It has 3 viewing distances (as did everything back then). I was wondering as it's a default model (so no source files), is it possible for me to get rid of two of the viewing distances, so that only the full model loads?

I'm posting here and over at UKTS as well, so if you can respond, it doesn't matter which thread you post to, I'll get an email notification.

Finally, if any route builders would like this building for your routes, let me know and I'll try and get it uploaded during June.

Hi Niall

You can change all the lods in your shape to your required viewing distance in "Shape file manager" (SFM) for example you can set the full poly model to be viewable at 2000m (max value).

If I set it to 2000 in the main viewing distance, what do I set the others to?

I would just set the lot to 2000m Niall and see if it works as expected, (if I remember correctly it does) but keep a back up of the shape file just in case.

I've not got round to testing your suggestion, Mark, can't find the USB stick with the building on it! It's in the room somewhere, just hope I find it before end of June! Laughing
