Bodmin and Wenford Railway Spring Gala

Post  casperdog on Sat 03 May 2014, 6:30 pm

As close as I get to 'Real' railways, today we visited to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway for the Spring Gala.

In attendance was visitor 34007 Wadebridge and here's a few of the many photographs from an enjoyable 6 hours riding up and down my local line.

£14 for unlimited travel from 10.30 until about 4.00 seems good value to me with a nice variety of traction:

BR (SR) 4-6-2 34007 'Wadebridge'
SR 2-4-0 3298 (30587)
BR (SR) 4-4-0 30120
BR (GWR) 0-6-0 6435

34007 and 6435 double heading on the way to Bodmin Parkway. At Bodmin Parkway, 34007 ran around to head the train back to Bodmin General.

34007 having run around now heads the train back to Bodmin General with 6435 as the assisting loco

30120 BR (SR) 4-4-0 replaced 6435 for the run to Boscarne Junction, with 34007 the tender 1st assisting engine

Honestly, there is a Bullied somewhere as 34007 departs  Boscarne Junction.

Steam subsiding and headway back to Bodmin finally started.

I just caught the start of the obligatory Bullied wheelslip as the climb of 1:40 towards Bodmin General begins. Stranded at Boscarne , there's no alternative except for a walk to the Brough Arms at Dunmere and a quick pint.

One hour later, 34007 and 30120 have returned to rescue us.

At rest at Bodmin

Honestly I am enjoying myself. Unfortunately, I'm not very photogenic. My name sake: Casper the dog and his sister Buffy also enjoyed their day out (i think) Smile

Cheers
Clive

If Casper and Buffy are anything like Rufus they will have really enjoyed their trip. Rufus absolutely loves sitting on my lap and looking out of the window when we ride on the train, and in particular on open top buses! Mind you he would have baulked at 6 hours!  Shocked   Shocked   Shocked

Hi Clive,
Thankyou for sharing such a fantastic sequence of shots! Good to see 34007 again! I've fired this Bulleid more times than I would like to mention on the Midhants!
Did you know she was restored at the Bodmin and Wenford! So she has pretty much gone back to where she was reborn!
Thanks again
All the best
Andy

A Very nice set of pictures Clive.
A very nice railway a well,I spent an very enjoyable day on a photograpic Charter there in October 2010 with the T9 30120.
Several of the known photographers had pictures published afterwards.

I only wish I knew how to post pictures on this site.
Cheers
Andy.

Hi Andy,
I posted this on the Forum a while back. Please have a good read through my set of Instructions. It really is very straight forward. If you struggle please do let me know.
Cheers
