Class 45 Light positioning

Post  Stefcurtis on Tue 27 May 2014, 2:24 pm

Hi Chaps,
I have a class 45 no 45027 (UKTS File ID: 4351).
The front marker lights are not in the headcode boxes but lower down.

Is there anyone here that can re-write the code where the marker lights are positioned in the headcode boxes & email it to me?
I would try myself but it's a bit beyond my ability to do as I don't have the software or knowledge....

It is for my own personal use so I guess I don't need to email the author.

Thanks for any help...

Stef

I have looked at this loco and the lights do not line up well vertically, laterally or longitudinally on my version. I will amend my engine file for 45027 and will send you a copy - all things being equal tonight.

Hi Alec,
I just had a reply from Stephen Wells on UKTS forum who is looking into it for me.

Any help you can give will be gratefully received!

Best Wishes...

Easily done with the measuring tool.

Hi Ian,
I have the shape viewer & now the measuring tool but I am confused as how to read it!
I have the loco & the grid overlaid on it, I can move the up/down, front/rear, left right controls etc but where is the datum point on the grid to tell me what the end figure is that I enter into the eng file?

Beginners eh!

Thanks...

HI Stef,
Glad you've got something sorted Smile
I, too, tried Ian's measuring tool and managed to get the lights into the "boxes" although the values needed a little tweaking to get them right!

Note that if you wanted to go a little further and use the cab at the other end, additional Lights entries must be added to the eng file; this is described in the MSTSBin manual.

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged,
thanks for the reply.
I have gone as far as I need to at this stage but like they say...
You learn something new every day (especially in MSTS!)
Thanks..

I did manage to amend the lights section of 45027 to suit my own interpretation, which I believe is in line with the MSTS manual. I use an alternative to the measuring tool called trial and error. My "lights" section is not suitable for BIN operation.

Anyway I hope that you are now sorted and can enjoy driving 45027.

Having sat back and thought about how the lighting was originally programmed, I believe the intention was for the lights to work in the forward direction when the [H] key was pressed for DIM, and the reverse direction when the [H] key was pressed a second time for BRIGHT.

I have changed my lighting for this locomotive to work for the forward direction only in both DIM and BRIGHT modes; i.e. "white" lights at the front and "red" lights in the rear.

A useful item is included on Steam4me here. I had started an HFL part on lighting but it remains unfinished, mainly as it needed an explanation of how the lighting works under BIN conditions. If SWMBO's list wasn't so long I would attempt to finish it.
