Train Store Error

Post  sbowness on Sat 24 Jan 2015, 11:59 pm

Gents

I'm using Train Store for the first time. I'm pretty sure that I installed it in accordance with the instructions for a Win7/8/8.1 system. I'm using it in Easy Mode and was running my first activity. It ran through the process of storing some or all of the items not required and then closed. Rather than MSTS opening, only the MSTS folder in Windows Explorer opened. Trying to restart Train Store, it is now taking me through the initial run routine of asking me for my MSTS and Train Store folders and then tells me that the Train Store folder cannot be used because it is not empty.

Starting up MSTS, it looks as if Train Store has done its job and stored everything not required.

How can I get myself out of this little pickle, please?

OK, I think I've managed to fix it.

I manually moved everything back to the MSTS folder, uninstalled Train Store and then deleted the Registry Entries. Then reinstalled Train Store and the two updates one by one, running each version as I did. It now seems to be a happy bunny.

Not sure what went wrong last time. I notice that when I run Train Store now it does give the "do you want to allow ... to make changes" warning, which I don't think it did before. My troubles may just have been down to not having ticked "Run as administrator" on the shortcut.

Tried it with a train and this time MSTS fires up. Now, heading back to Train Store I get the error "At least one Activity was saved during the preceding MSTS session..." and asking me whether I want to save it or not. The manual is a little confusing here. Should I save it, in which case, where?

Hi Stephen, click on yes to save it and then give it any name you wish,  I use Bob  and these can be stored in
your My Documents folder and at the end of the run, you can just delete it along with the saves in the
MSTS Route Saves folder and so you can use that name again next time.
I would just stick with tackling one Activity at a time and if you are asked again at the start of a new session
just add a digit to the name (Bob1) to keep the previous one safe.

Hi Stephen,

I do the opposite of Bob, I say no. I find that it is much simpler that way as if you have successfully run an activity and are moving on to a new one then there is no real need to save something from the previous one.
