Rockin' 'n' Rollin'

Post  slipperman12 on Mon 16 Mar 2015, 6:35 pm

Hi All,
I've just come across this clip!
You'll see the significance of the topic title, especially in Take 2!   Obviously the effect may be exaggerated by the zoom lens used, but it was a heart-stopping moment to me!!

I just love those GWR 4-6-0s! They're not the biggest, but they sure give a great effect Smile

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged,

Very nice too! Thanks for sharing mate!!! Sends shivers down my spine! In a really good way! More like Goose pimples! If you can find anymore like that I would definitely love to see!

Cheers

Andy

Hi,

Long live the rock and rolling King!

Those clips are awesome - great camera angles, sound vision and atmosphere!! No other form of traction gives that sense of power and achievement.

I did the Settle and Carlisle a couple of years ago on a steam excursion starting from York. They were originally supposed to stop at Keighley on the way through but Network Rail withdrew permission a few days before (too hard for them to manage the traffic apparently) so we all had to go to Leeds to join the train. We had a reasonably young crew on the way up but a crew of well-worn railwaymen on the way down. We came back through Keighley at full tit, so much so that they had to apply the brakes rather smartly not long after we got through the station. Must have given those waiting on the platform the thrill of their lives. It was pretty amazing for us on board too. We suspect it was the crew expressing their consternation at the change in the timetable.
