Preservation of MSTS and copyright law

Post  sbowness on Sat 11 Apr 2015, 9:08 pm

There's a very interesting discussion going on in the US at the moment:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/games/67690041/eff-wants-to-change-copyright-law-to-preserve-older-games

It boils down to a request that the US Copyrights Office allows an exemption to the DCMA to allow gamers and archivists alike to bypass the DRM and other measures in games no longer supported by the manufacturers in an effort to keep them running.

Hi Stephen,
As you say ... interesting!
It makes much mention of DRM rights, but software like MSTS (I can't call it a game!!) doesn't have such protection.
However, here's hoping whatever decision is reached, helps MSTS become easier to share!

Cheers,
Ged
