Post  dee4141 on Wed 22 Jul 2015, 11:42 am

A collection of Jubilees. Shown here are Nelson, Conqueror, Thunderer and Connaught. A couple are in ex-works condition the others are weathered.

There are 3 more to come......Hardy, Jutland and Silver Jubilee.....all should be uploaded to UKTrainsim Library in the next few days.

You're spoiling us with this excellent set of Jubilees, but thank you.

Just downloaded them Danny, to add to my collection. The Jubilee's were nice loco's. The very first one I ever saw, when I was about 7 years old, was Tobago. That was at Southport Chapel St Station, in 1951. That's when my Train Spotting career began, and I bought my first Ian Allen Loco Spotters Album (LMS Region). Happy Days! Very Happy

Hi Geoff, I still have my LocoShed Books of 1952.....I used them to allocate the sheds for this set of Jubilees......still have the "underlines" for those locos seen. I spent my early spotting days at busy Watford Junction......Happy Days indeed.

Standard Arthur "Maid of Astolat".   I've always wanted to model this class but could never seem to find the time.....

Although I knew that Southern Diesel 10203 had hauled the Golden Arrow, I didn't know that she had hauled the Night Ferry as well ... recently there was a pic in a Railway mag which prompted this model.

Southern Diesels in Green livery after transfer to the London Midland Region . These are 10201 and 10202 which were not quite as powerful as 10203, and often ran in tandem hauling the Royal Scot or MidDay Scot..

Thanks for the comments Alec and Mike.

I'm still progressing some of the locos that I've had on my " To Do List " for some time.....these are pics of Channel Packet and Royal Mail in Blue livery. I always thought that this was the smartest livery the MN's carried, and it was a shame that it only lasted around 3 years...

I like the Standard 5 Danny, will there be more to come?

BTW any chance of sending me your e-mail address,I seem to have lost all the ones I had.
My one is still the same.

Message for Alec, you're a born model maker excellent stuff. I've bought the Lanky and Yorky loco book (managed to finally find one) So if you've any preferences I'll see what I can do...... Very Happy

Another thing folks I still haven't been able to get MSTS running properly on my computer. I think it's the built in HD graphics that's the problem but I'm not sure. I did however get TSM to run so I can make things but not test them.

Cheers

John.

Hi John - it's good to hear from you again - will send an email.

I hadn't planned to upload the Standard 5 Arthur as the full set has already been uploaded to UKTS Library by Dave Robinson . So far I've only done two - one clean and the other weathered - this pic shows "The Red Knight".

I've also just reskinned this one - a promise to Alec for when he gets around to his SECR coaches.

Mmmm . . I too like the SE&CR loco, and perhaps it's time to look at the carriages again. Variety and all that!

I take it that that's the one by Barry Lane? Brian was also looking at L&YR locos as part of a future L&YR themed route similar to that for L&NWR. I quite like the 0-8-2T "1501" class - built to be a shunting and banking engine. A total of five were built in 1908 and received numbers 1501 to 1505, and although taken into LMS at grouping, only one had its LMS number applied - namely 11803 - with all being withdrawn between 1925 and 1929.

Post  dee4141 on Wed 08 Feb 2017, 4:23 pm

Thanks for the comments. In considering an upload for the SECR H - I might just do a C and D1/E1 in this livery at some point too - what is the general view on MSTS/OR now? I use OR all of the time so haven't bothered to put new models through ShapeFix etc, this makes modelling easier. Is MSTS still being widely used ? If so I might have to consider two models. Any thoughts on this?

I use MSTS all the time. The C, D1, E1 and H all run beautifully on the South East route with good frame rates. Re-skinning them shouldn't make any difference. They are all good, sturdy-looking locomotives. Roderic

John,

If you are looking at maybe doing a few LYR locos, there is a Wishlist here :

http://tsforum.freeclanforum.com/t1178-msts-helpful-facts-and-links-part-36-lyr-models-to-support-rufuskins-lyr-wagon-models

We have a reasonable number of goods locos, but no passenger locos, so a 4-4-0 or 4-4-2, or even an un-rebuilt 4-6-0 might be nice ?

I have a few of those on my radar, but my current workload is a bit high, so I won't get around to any of those for at least another 6-12 months.

Regards, Brian

Re: Danny's models

Post  jariddell on Thu 09 Feb 2017, 3:44 pm

Did a bit of research before replying folks.

Danny, I got your e-mail will reply soon. The D1 and E1 classes were never painted into the elaborate SECR livery. They were converted after WW1 and were outshopped in the dark grey livery which the SECR adopted until grouping. The class C's did appear in the green. The last locos to receive the full green were Wainwright's class E (did I send you the model I made?) I stopped working on it and concentrated on the L1 for your route but I still have it.

Alec I've had a look at the book but there's only a side view of that beast that your after Very Happy It could still be done but without a front or top view I would have to guess the width of the footplate, cab and tanks. Give me a wee while to do some more checking.

Brian, thanks for the link, I too liked Renzo's depiction of the route just a pity it wasn't the LNWR's one. Oh remember folks Darwin has done some ex LNWR/WCJS stock which he uploaded to UKTS. I've had a go at reskinning some of them but haven't told him yet......Smile

Cheers for now

John.

Roderic, I've managed to get the SECR H into MSTS so I'll upload this version. The model differs from the BR version in that the smokebox number plate has to be removed, and the texturing process is quite different due to the more complex livery. Additionally - for MSTS - the crew has to be installed by FreightAnim.
